Public and Environmental Wellness

Welcome to the Department of Public and Environmental Wellness. “Pursuing society’s big health challenges,” our programs focus on equipping students with the tools needed to lead the charge of health promotion among individuals, communities, and workplaces.

We take great pride in advocating for and advancing the health and safety of diverse communities through engagement and service. Our faculty members are dedicated to student success, using the best teaching and learning strategies to deliver a robust curriculum. As scholars, faculty provide students access to new knowledge as well as opportunities to gain valuable research experience.

We are deeply connected to our local community and industry partners. These relationships enable students to immediately put into practice the theories and concepts they are learning in the classroom. Service learning projects, practicums and internships give students “real world” experience while also connecting them to local employers.

Environmental Health and Safety Minor

A minor in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is available to complement other majors in the School of Health Sciences and in other programs, such as environmental health, human resource development, engineering, biology or chemistry. A minimum of 24 credit hours is required for the EHS minor. For more information, visit the Undergraduate Catalog.

Wellness and Health Promotion Minor

A minor of 20 credit hours in Wellness and Health Promotion is available to students majoring in other programs across the university such as anthropology, integrative studies, health sciences, human resource development, psychology, or sociology.
